    News Release:

Do you often feel there is more to life? You are right! In the newly released book "Beyond Knowing" by noted counselor Brent Lee, there is an entire spiritual realm awaiting your discovery.

This book will guide you on a journey to discover who and what you truly are. It will help you find your answers to why you are here in this lifetime. And it will show you how—at your own pace—to consciously connect again to the other part of you, your spiritual mind.

Beyond Knowing is a guiding light through a metaphysical expedition which incorporates and expounds on a common thread of thought that flows through the Eastern and Western doctrines of Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Christianity, Taoism, Mohammadanism, Confucianism; as well as Aboriginal and Native American Indian beliefs.

Using the common thread of these teachings, Brent Lee explains how we can nurture our physical and spiritual lives by showing us how to create our own expectations of the future through our daily thoughts and visualizations.

Mr. Lee takes this common thread approach one step further by sharing the teachings of his spirit guides, weaving an insightful tapestry of thought and logic designed to help us expand our conscious view of life.

The author, Brent Lee, who is a retired U.S. Navy Counselor, Chief Petty Officer, has, since 1975, had the pleasure of studying the various philosophies and theologies of the world. During his time in the U.S. Navy, he spent sixteen of his twenty years as a Counselor in the following areas; Career Counselor, Financial Budget Counselor, Human Resource Counselor, Family Counselor, and while serving as a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Counselor, he spent one tour as the Program Director and Division Officer of the Alcohol Rehabilitation Department (ARD) of the U.S. Naval Hospital Subic Bay, Philippines and a second tour as the Division Officer of the Navy's Drug and Alcohol Counseling School (NDACS) in Miramar, CA.

Throughout these years he was afforded the opportunity to study and understand the philosophies and beliefs of persons from many different cultures and backgrounds, and see these various cultural differences incorporated into treatment plans.

In 1993, Brent Lee retired from the U.S. Navy and moved to Cody, Wyoming, where he resides with his wife, Fe. He has worked with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Counselors and Message Therapists as a Consultant, in the areas of: Spiritual Guidance, Dream Therapy, Therapeutic Energy Work, Regressive Therapy, Meditation Guidance & Therapy. Brent Lee is still asking questions and sharing what he has learned.

Light of the Feather: Pathways through Contemporary Indian America

On a Friday night in the spring of 2002, after having finished the couple of books I was reading, I sat in my living room wondering about what I might read next. I allowed myself the fantasy of concocting the kind of book I wanted: a book that would tie together the personal insights that had thus far come to me after a couple years of looking inward. The childish arrogance of inventing a fantasy book like this made me laugh, but still I decided to go to the bookstore the next day and have a look around.

At nine o’clock the next morning my phone rang. The caller identified himself as Brent Lee, and he was wondering if I would look at the outline of his new book, Beyond Knowing, and consider writing a review of it. Within twenty-minutes or so, I opened the e-mail that Brent had sent. As I read through it, my hands began to tremble—literally. It was the book I had fantasized the night before! It had not been childish arrogance after all; rather, it had been a multidimensional communication.

Brent Lee’s Beyond Knowing is a book for those who want to become more aware of their inner journeys; it is a guide into the realm of spiritual awareness and the realities that are available to us through spiritual searching.

Beyond Knowing is a book that integrates and weaves together those very insights that I’d been acquiring. The evolution of spirituality has taken many twists and turns since humans first appeared on the earth, and today we are witnessing yet another huge turn, or, better to say, a decisive and significant leap forward. Spirituality in the Third Millennium is going global, as it must for us to survive, to evolve as we were meant to. Each of us is moving along on an inner journey. For every individual, it is the degree of awareness of this journey that either opens or restricts possibilities of experiencing other levels of consciousness.

Beyond this, the book has even greater special meaning for me. Brent and I are getting to know each other. On our first meeting, I told Brent about what had happened, and I asked him why he called me when he did. He explained that while he was sitting in his office he looked over at his bookshelf, and my book was glowing. He said he knew in that moment that he had to call me.

Brent has since visited classes at one of the high schools where I teach creative writing. In each class, after I told the kids about how Beyond Knowing came to me, and showed them the book, I introduced Brent. Let me tell you, the students’ eyes were popping. Brent spoke briefly to each class, and one of the things he mentioned was that once you shake someone’s hand, a connection has been established between you and that person. I remember holding the book up at the end of the classes and telling the students, “Well, I guess I had the best show-and-tell of the year,” after which several students approached Brent to enthusiastically shake his hand. The next day, I commented to one student, “That was gentlemanly of you to introduce yourself the way you did,” whereupon the boy displayed his right hand and said sincerely, “I wanted the connection.”

Recently, Brent and his wife Fe joined me for a birthday picnic for the grandson of friends of mine. The picnic was held in a large city park, and all of the attendees, besides Brent, his wife, and me, were Crow Indians. There were many scattered small groups of people sitting around and visiting with friends and family. I spent some time visiting with several different groups. In one, I discovered that two twenty-something young men, who were brothers, had been writing students of mine when they were seventh and eighth graders. I hadn’t recognized them, as they had grown up. We spent an enjoyable time catching up. At one point, while talking with just one of the brothers, I asked him what he was currently doing and he told me he was attending college in Wyoming. When I asked what his brother John was doing, he said he didn’t really know, but thought John “might be going to Iowa, or is it Ohio?”

Later, during the feast, I was sitting next to Brent. We shared casual conversation until, after a brief silence, Brent said to me, “See that young man over there, the one wearing the ball cap?” When I spotted the young Crow Indian Brent was referring to, I said, “Yeah. His name is John.” Then Brent continued, “One day, he’s going to be a powerful spiritual leader.”

Brent had not met John that day or any other day. They had never been introduced. They had never shaken hands. In fact, Brent and John had never come to within about thirty feet of each other. I found myself amused by Brent’s observation, but I certainly would never have taken it upon myself to tell John about it.

Later in the afternoon, as we were preparing to leave, I started to make my rounds, saying goodbye to people. I sat down at a table to share a few parting words with a woman I had known for a long time. Then I noticed John walking toward us. He’d separated from his group, which was quite a ways off, and was making a beeline directly toward us. Less than a minute later, he stood at the end of the table, next to the woman and me. A short moment passed in which none of the three of us spoke, and then I said to John, “Your brother says you’re going to Iowa, or Ohio.” He responded, “Ohio. But I’m not sure yet; it depends on whether or not I get the funding I need.” “To go to college?” I inquired. John answered, “Yes. A bible college.”

My mouth nearly dropped open. I lowered my voice a bit and asked, “Are you...kind of...on a spiritual path?” John’s one word answer: “Yes.”

I rose from the table and asked John to step aside with me for a moment. I pointed Brent out, then told John the story of how Brent’s book came to me. And then I told him what Brent had earlier said about him, that one day he was going to be a powerful spiritual leader. John just stared at me for a moment, and then he slowly smiled—a big bemused and thoroughly pleased smile. Becoming a spiritual leader had been for the last few years, and still was, his dream.

I told John I thought it would be a good idea for him to meet Brent, and a moment later Brent was headed our way. I introduced them, letting Brent know that I’d told John what he’d said, and that John was indeed traveling on a spiritual path. As I excused myself to make more goodbyes, John asked Brent, “How long have you been able to see?”

I don’t believe this story needs commentary here. What is needed is for the reader to think about it, and think about it again, deeply.

If this story is not a mark of the veracity and power of Brent Lee’s extraordinary insight, I don’t know what is. The only advice I have for the reader: Sit back, hold on, and open up!

Brent Lee is no stranger to talking with spirits. Ever since he was a child, Brent benefitted from the compassionate guidance of spirits who shared insights, amazing stories, and the occasional smelly herbal potion with him. Brent Lee's clarity and down-to-Earth practicality was clearly a great benefit to him during the many years he worked as a counselor in the US Navy, where he traveled the world and learned from a variety of spiritual teachers. Brent shares both the teachings of his spirit guides and the wisdom he learned from people around the world in this fascinating overview of our true spiritual nature.

Brent includes a large number of useful exercises in this book, after first presenting a historical overview for each concept. These exercises can help you see your spirit guides, identify your dream symbols, notice what different levels of consciousness feel like, learn how to communicate psychically through the dreamplane we all share, discover how to enter the consciousness of others, practice exploring your past, view possible outcomes of the choices you make, connect with other forms of consciousness, connect with your soul, and practice telekinesis.

I especially enjoy reading the stories Brent shares -- such as the times he played astral travel tag with a friend of his. He could usually catch his friend, because he did not share his friend's belief that it was impossible to walk through furniture! Brent describes an earlier out-of-body experience in which he walked half-way through his closed bedroom door, when the thought ran through his mind that he could not walk through solid objects. "Since I was already half way through the door, I became imprisoned within the door. For a moment, I felt fear: how was I going to explain this predicament to my family? Then I 'got a grip' on myself and remembered that in my spirit form, I am not limited by physical structures. With that realization, I received a mild shock from the door as I passed on through. In the same manner, you can pass through solid objects in your conscious state or in your physical body, or pass your hand through your 'solid' table. The only limitation is the limitation of your own belief about your own reality."

BEYOND KNOWING is an invigorating book that will help clean out any beliefs you might be feeling limited by. I am moved by its wisdom, touched by its honesty, inspired by its integrity, and awed by its love. I give it my highest recommendation, and look forward to reading more wonderful books by Brent Lee!
